What are the chances of getting pregnant with IVF?
According to at least one study, women who conceived with IVF treatment went through an average of 2.7 cycles. They found that the odds for success—for women of all ages—after three IVF cycles were between 34 and 42 percent. Practically speaking, to improve your odds, you should try for at least three IVF cycles.
How long IVF procedure will take?
In the beginning 10 days your ovaries will be stimulated to produce follicles, ovulation will occur and thereafter insemination is performed. The embryo is then transferred anywhere from 3-5 days after retrieval.
Is IVF successful the first time?
The overall success rate of IVF procedure is 40-50 percent. Few of the women are very lucky to get pregnancy in their first cycle of IVF.
Is IVF treatment painful?
IVF procedure is not painful. Oocyte retrieval is done under Anesthesia. So, you will not feel any pain. Even Embryo transfer a part of IVF is not painful but certain aspects of IVF can be uncomfortable and slight cramping can be felt.
How safe is IVF?
IVF is a safe and effective treatment for infertility. It has very low risks to the patient. There has been no proof that IVF or the medications used in IVF lead to an increased risk of ovarian or breast cancers. Babies born from IVF have the same low rate of birth defects as babies born from a natural conception.
Is IVF related to breast cancer?
The number of women who developed breast cancer after IVF was not significantly different from the number of women who developed breast cancer, but not after having IVF. This suggests that IVF did not influence breast cancer risk.
